Warton Singers
(previously Show Choir)

First Meeting Report

Summary of the first year (2019)

Warton Show Chorus’ met in the village hall on the evening of Friday 6th September for their very first session. After several months of careful planning it was an encouraging turn out for this new venture. There were enough men and women to form 4 singing parts. A number of us had never sung in a choir before, so we also learned which voice range we fell into! However, it was also helpful to have some more experienced singers who were able to help lead each section.

Following the formalities and introduction we rehearsed 3 songs that by the end of the evening made us all feel like we were beginning to gel as a group. In the first half our sympathetic (and patient!) music director had us ‘Sailing’. In the second half after a break for refreshments, we were ‘Da doo ron ronning’ and also made a start on ‘True Love’ from the hit musical ‘High Society’.

Above all it was a fun evening that seemed to pass very quickly! Roll-on next Friday for our next rehearsal!

Afterwards some of us headed to the Clifton Arms where the new landlord was keen to welcome us and suggested that we might hold our first ‘gig’ in his pub!!

Fastforward to 2022

We are still welcoming new people, whatever your ability or experience.
